Sheet masks are the gateway product of Korean skincare, and also the one most people buy wrong. They pay department-store prices for a single sheet, use it once, and never build the habit. In Korea a sheet mask is a nightly, ten-pack, under-two-dollars thing. This guide explains the types, how to pick one for your skin, and how to buy them the Korean way, which is by the box, from overstock, for a lot less.
- A Korean sheet mask is a serum-soaked sheet you wear 10 to 20 minutes; you pat in what is left and skip the rinse.
- Sheet material matters as much as the ingredients: cotton, cellulose (tencel), hydrogel, and bio-cellulose feel completely different.
- Buy by the box. A 10-sheet LEADERS box on KSHOP works out to about $2 a mask.
- Everything below is sealed, stocked in the U.S., and ships with at least 6 months of shelf life.

What a Korean sheet mask actually does
A sheet mask is a face-shaped sheet soaked in essence. The sheet holds the liquid against your skin so it cannot evaporate, which lets more of it absorb than if you just applied the same serum with your hands. That is the whole trick. It is a 15-minute hydration delivery system, not a treatment, and the effect is immediate: plumper, calmer skin for a day or so. Used a few times a week, it adds up.
The reason Korean masks dominate the category is scale. Korean brands make them by the hundreds of millions, so the sheets are better, the essences are more generous, and the prices are low enough to use one every night. That last part is what most U.S. shoppers miss.
The four sheet types, and why the sheet matters
Cotton and cellulose (tencel)
The classic soft white sheet. Thin, holds a lot of essence, hugs the face well. LEADERS and LUMUSE use this type. It is the everyday format and the cheapest per sheet.
Hydrogel
A jelly-like sheet, usually in two pieces, that cools on contact and clings tightly. It feels like a spa treatment and is best for a special-occasion or post-sun night. AVAJAR's Double V mask is a hydrogel, cut to lift along the jaw.
Bio-cellulose
Grown from fermented coconut water, this sheet is thicker, almost skin-like, and adheres so closely you can walk around in it. It is the premium sheet and it is what makes the Candorlov collagen mask feel different from a cotton one.
Sleeping and wash-off masks
Not sheets, but they live in the same aisle. A sleeping mask (Glokin, Mary&May) goes on as the last step at night and comes off in the morning shower. A peel-off (Candorlov White Egg) is a once-a-week texture treatment.

How to pick a Korean sheet mask for your skin
Look for hyaluronic acid, ceramide, or "hydro" in the name. LUMUSE Hydro Calming and LEADERS Collagen Enhancer are the two hydration workhorses in stock.
Tea tree, centella (cica), and calendula. LEADERS Teatree and AC-Dressing are built for skin that flushes easily.
Vitamin C and niacinamide. LEADERS Vita Toning and INFODPLUS Vita3MAPS are the brightening picks.
Collagen, peptides, and lifting cuts. Candorlov Low Molecular Collagen, AVAJAR Double V, and LEADERS Wrinkle-tox.

How to use a sheet mask the Korean way
Cleanse and tone first, so the sheet is not sealing dirt in. Unfold the sheet, line up the eye holes, and smooth outward from the nose. Leave it on 10 to 20 minutes, never until it dries, because a dry sheet pulls moisture back out. Peel it off, pat the leftover essence into your face and neck, and go straight to moisturizer. Do not rinse. If the pouch has extra essence, that is not waste: put it on your arms or save it in the fridge for tomorrow.
Frequency: two or three nights a week is the sweet spot for most skin. Nightly is fine with a gentle hydrating mask. Store the boxes somewhere cool. Check each product page for any listed expiration date. Contact us before ordering if the date is unclear.
Korean sheet mask FAQ
How often should I use a Korean sheet mask?
Two to three times a week for most skin types. Gentle hydrating masks like LUMUSE Hydro Calming can be used nightly. Save hydrogel and lifting masks for once a week.
Do I wash my face after a sheet mask?
No. Pat the leftover essence in and follow with moisturizer. Rinsing washes away the point of the mask.
Why are sheet masks so cheap on KSHOP?
We buy limited overstock lots that are already sitting in U.S. distributor warehouses and pass the discount on. The LEADERS boxes, for example, came from a distributor clearing an older packaging run. Same masks, same seal.
Can I use a sheet mask in the morning?
Yes. A 10-minute hydrating mask before makeup is a common Korean trick for a smooth base. Use a lighter cotton sheet rather than a hydrogel.
What is the difference between a 5-sheet and a 10-sheet box?
Only the count. Ten-sheet boxes are the better per-sheet value and are how Koreans usually buy. Five-sheet boxes are a good way to try a brand first.
